Francesca Fioretti was the last partner of Davide Astori, the football player who died suddenly on March 4, 2018, in his sleep, due to a heart problem. Francesca Fioretti and the national team defender, in 2016, became parents of little Vittoria, who is now 5 years old.
The actress and former contestant of Big Brother and Beijing Express was interviewed by Silvia Toffanin during the episode of Verissimo which will be broadcast tomorrow, May 15, 2021, on Canale 5.
Francesca Fioretti: the statements to Verissimo
Francesca Fioretti began, talking about how her daughter Vittoria lived the absence of her father in these three years:
I simply told her the truth because I wanted to build a relationship of full trust with her. I have never deluded her, of course, the story has become more complex over the years also because at 5 the curiosity and emotions of a child are different than when she was 2. Today, Vittoria is a happy child and we live this lack as a normal thing in our life.
In addition to mourning the sudden loss of her partner, Fioretti also had to face bureaucratic issues that were difficult to accept:
Davide and I loved each other and we consciously chose to have Vittoria. We were a full-fledged family even though love was not sealed by a marriage contract. This has triggered mechanisms that only today I understand because not all minors have a serene situation. So it is right that these guardians exist, however, for a responsible mother who dedicates her life to her daughter, it is difficult to accept it. I felt so angry because it was others who decided for my daughter. Everyone thought they had more rights than me regarding Vittoria.
What makes Davide Astori’s death even more unacceptable is the fact that the player probably could have been saved if he had been subjected to a further medical examination which was not carried out:
One more examination was enough, a medical responsibility was recognized because, from the results of the electrocardiogram, Davide had to undergo a trivial holter, which was never done. I would like to work hard to make holter mandatory.
Francesca Fioretti has written a book about her personal story, entitled Io sono più amore – A song of strength, pain, rebirth ..
