The leader of the League spoke at the Ambrosetti Forum in Cernobbio.
Matteo Salvini was also present at the Ambrosetti Forum in Cernobbio today. The leader of the League, of course, attacked the government in office, talked about infrastructure and even made a forecast ahead of the regional elections on 20 and 21 September.
On the duration of the current government Conte 2 Salvini said:
“I don’t have a crystal ball, but I think and I hope that this government will not last until the end. Having fear as the only glue would be dangerous. It must not say no to many infrastructural works and survive until 2022 to affect the ‘election of the President of the Republic “
Then he added that from the government:
“There are dramatic non-decisions. You can make mistakes and correct them, but the country risks dying of non-decision. And if you don’t decide you have to take responsibility for the choices, you can’t have someone in the government who says no and someone says yes”
Salvini cited infrastructure and the MES as arguments on which the government is immobile and added:
“We are in danger of dying of uncertainty and inaction”
Then he made a prediction ahead of the regional elections:
“If I had to make a prediction, my goal is 7 to zero. We are working on it. I have a good feeling, there is a desire for change”
Salvini then spoke of the former Ilva and said:
“I don’t believe in the choice between Ilva in Taranto and the amusement park. Italy cannot do without steel. If we want to remain an industrial country, steel must remain in Italy and we cannot depend on others. The presence of steel production must be compatible with public health. It is not unthinkable “
He also touched on another always very topical topic, that of the Messina bridge, referring to the recent statements by the Minister of Infrastructure Paola De Micheli who spoke of the possibility of creating a cycle path to connect Sicily. Salvini said:
“I prefer the bridge to the cycle path, if I have to choose. Then you can put the cycle path on the bridge, but I prefer to start from the bridge if I have to choose. My ambition is that whoever built the Genoa bridge also build the one over the Strait. 40 years of chatter, whoever built the one in Genoa build the Bridge over the Strait in 5 years of mandate: a budget of 4 billion euros, all borne by private individuals “
